FOLK musicians don’t get bigger than Sheffield’s own John Boden, the fiddler who founded and fronted folk supergroup Bellowhead.

Over 12 years, this behemoth of British traditional music won eight BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, with nominations for 14 more.

In fact, Boden holds the honour of having won more of these accolades than any other musician.

Bellowhead’s third album, Hedonism, sold over 60,000 copies — the highest-selling indie folk record of all time.

After disbanding last year, Bellowhead hardly parted ways, as several members still mustered as the Remnant Kings.

Their banner will fly high over the Leadmill on Saturday, announcing Boden’s new album Afterglow.

It’s a chance to hear this prolific writer’s latest work on his home turf, backed by his talented friends.

Visit www.leadmill.co.uk for tickets, priced £20 each.
