Alternative acts boost Tramlines line-up

TRAMLINES Festival has boosted its line-up with an injection of electronic and alternative artists to the bill.

New acts to perform in Sheffield from July 24-26 include Ninja Tune’s Romare, whose cut-and-paste production has attracted the attention of fans from across the bass music spectrum

Also added is BBC6 Music’s Gilles Peterson, and Evian Christ who has collaborated with Kanye West.

There is also a performance from the UK’s first acid-house producer A Guy Called Gerald, plus a DJ set from Basement Jaxx at the o2 Academy after their Main Stage performance.

Minimal warehouse outfit Lo Shea, acid house and techno from Berlin-based Klasse Recordings founder Luca Lozano, and grime-inspired house and techno from Pev n Kowton of the Livity Sound trio.

Other new additions on the alternative tip include Sheffield’s Blood Sport who will be performing a live set of blistering guitars and techno-gilded polyrhythms, plus curating the Tramlines Millennium Gallery Sunday line-up for a second year.

Tramlines said it has drafted in talent which spans the bass music scenes to give a diverse late night programme.

Acts include London producer Henry Wu, who will delve into garage, jazz and funk, and Cervo and JVC will deliver their flamboyant crossover of African and Latin American sounds, emerging hip-hop producer Cypria, plus dancehall and Toddla T collaborator Serocee.

Tramlines Festival director Sarah Nulty said: “We are very excited to add even more fantastic and diverse artists to the bill. 

“We want to ensure that the night at Tramlines is a strong as the daytime. 

“We almost have a continual run of music for 24 hours a day, and with all this in store, we expect people will be getting very little sleep this year.”

The Charlatans and Wu Tang Clan will headline the Main stage.
