Schools goal for Millers

ROTHERHAM United are set to launch a brand new project aimed at cementing links with all the local primary schools in the borough.

The "Bright Sparks" project will see the Millers further expand on their award-winning community activities by supporting schools and students in a variety of educational activities.

The club will be helping kids in a number of ways, including assigning a Rotherham United player to each school where advice and coaching on sport, education and nutritional matters will be top of  the agenda.

Participation officer Paul Hurst said: "The 'Bright Sparks' project is a really exciting initiative which the club will be rolling out over the course of the year.

"We will be going into all the primary schools across the borough where we will be looking to build long-term partnerships with as many schools as possible."

As an introduction to the project the Millers will be offering every school a framed Rotherham United shirt and the opportunity to watch the Millers at Don Valley Stadium.

Elizabeth Gee, headteacher at Monkwood Primary School in Rotherham, added: "We have worked with Rotherham United for the last four years and have always found them to be extremely professional. The children really look forward to the players coming into school and we have developed a close partnership with the club over this time."
