Rotherham hotel bought by London-based company

A LONDON-based hospitality group have bought a 52-bedroom Rotherham hotel for a seven-figure sum.

Specialist property adviser Christie and Co has sold the Welcome Inn hotel, Wortley Road, Kimberworth, to Morar Hospitality Ltd on behalf of Administrative Receivers.

Christie and Co’s Head of Leisure and Development, Jon Patrick, said that there had been significant interest in the purpose-built property — which first opened in 2004 — and “several offers” above the property’s £800,000 guide price.

The hotel has 52 en-suite bedrooms and self-contained car parking on a site adjacent to the Oasis Health Club and Superbowl bowling alley, which remain part of an ongoing group administration.

Mr Patrick said the sale had attracted “unprecedented levels of interest from across the hospitality sector”.

Jay Patel, director of Morar Hospitality, said: “We very much look forward to developing the business.”

The administrators of Hellaby Hall Hotel have revealed that they will continue to operate the prestigious venue through the summer ahead of its potential sale in October.

The award-winning, 14th century hotel is one of four hotels owned and managed by Prima Hotels for which administrators from business advisory firm AlixPartners have been appointed.
