Mates from Maltby embark on 192-mile coast-to-coast walk to support Bluebell Wood

EIGHT mates from Maltby are set for a 192-mile coast-to-coast walk in aid of Bluebell Wood.

Conner Wesley and his team — Rob Pryke, Craig Edwards, Matt Whitehead, Corey Mangham, Chris Daley, Danny Bearman, and Caleb Wedge — are already halfway to their £10,000 target.

They will set off on August 3 on the nine-day trek, which will see them wild camping each night.

Conner said: “We were keen to do the challenge for a good cause and couldn’t think of a better charity then Bluebell Wood. Everyone we spoke to said the same thing because of the fantastic support they give to local children.”

The walk will take the lads from the Irish Sea, through the Lake District onto the Yorkshire Dales, across the North Yorkshire Moors, finishing at Robin Hood’s Bay.

“We’ve all been training really hard for it and getting lots of people involved in our fundraising,” added Conner.

“I’m up at 4am training for the walk every morning and am really looking forward to the big day.

“We have a big family fun day planned for when we have finished, so we are committed to finishing in time.”

Eleanor Hughes, regional fundraiser at the children’s hospice, said: “It’s great to see how enthusiastic the lads are in taking on such a big challenge and they have already done an amazing job with their training and fundraising.

“Every penny they raise will help us to be there for local children and their families at the toughest of times.”
