Businessman Dean launches bid to help those struggling at Christmas

A BIG-hearted businessman has launched a festive appeal to help the homeless and parents struggling to afford Christmas presents.

Dean Whitehouse, who runs DW Interiors, is making a Christmas collection which he said could fund children in need and the elderly who might have difficulty funding a turkey feast.

Dean, of Harley, said: “My own business as well as a few other of my friends’ businesses are raising money to help families, the elderly and the homeless this Christmas.

“We are looking purchase as many toys, books and craft sets all age ranges and also put together some simple food packs.

“Any donations would be very much appreciated and we will be donating ourselves on top of the final total.”

He added: “I have been on contact with South Yorkshire Street Angels and they showed me round their foodbank.

They will be taking 50 homeless people to the Fitzwilliam Arms in Parkgate and giving them a Christmas meal.

“I reached out to them to see if we can help, too, with presents for families who might be struggling.

“They also said they need some racking on which to put the items they’re collecting for the foodbank, and some big plastic tubs.”

Rotherham firms SP Security, Junksterz waste management, Bespoke Resin Driveways and Elite Protection are also promoting the appeal through their social media pages and Dean said he was keen to hear from any other companies who would like to get involved.
