Police: help us beat thieves

SOUTH Yorkshire Police have urged the public to be vigilant after an increase in burglary and car crime.

There has been a two per cent rise between April and August compared to the same period in 2012.

Police Commissioner Shaun Wright said: “I know from experience the devastation that can be caused from someone coming into your home to steal your belongings.

“Please help reduce this crime by keeping your homes and vehicles secure at all times, will reduce the chances of becoming a victim.”

Deputy Chief Con Andy Holt added: “Everyone has a role to play. Officers and staff are working hard to catch offenders and conduct extra patrols in hotspot locations but we cannot tackle these issues on our own.”
