Arson at kids' playground

A CHILDREN’S play area was targeted by arsonists on Wednesday evening.

Firefighters were called to Far Dalton Lane, Dalton, at 8.25pm after plastic play equipment was set alight.

Crews were this morning dealing with a third floor flat fire at Midland Road in Swinton.

They were called at 5.20am and further details are expected shortly.

Firefighters also dealt with two arson attacks on the same Darfield road just minutes apart.

They attended a car fire on at 11.25pm and a blaze at a bin store at 11.45pm, both on Pitt Street.

Firefighters were also called to cooking-related incidents at Clifton Avenue, Clifton, and Wombwell Lane, Wombwell, on Wednesday evening.

A Ford Mondeo was set alight on a lay-by on Park Spring Road, Little Houghton.
