2p PPI compensation disappointment for Rotherham’s Val

STUNNED shopper Val Marks thought her numbers had come up when she received a letter saying she was in line for a PPI payout.

But her joy was short-lived when it turned out the compo jackpot amounted to a measly 2p.

Val, of Herringthorpe Valley Road, said the misselling windfall related to purchases she had made from a clothing catalogue some years ago.

“I contacted a firm to see if I was entitled to claim any money back,” she said.

“I sent a form in about this catalogue company and eventually I got a cheque for just 2p.

“I phoned them up and said maybe they’d forgotten to put a few zeroes on the end but they said it was right.

“I must have cost them a lot more than 2p just to post it to me.”
