Suspected drink driver arrested after police chase ends in crash

A SUSPECTED drink driver was arrested and charged with dangerous driving after reportedly crashing the car he was in while being chased by police.

SYP Operational Support said the black Seat Leon had been spotted by officers in an unmarked car just before 8pm yesterday, with the driver “overtaking cars like he owned the road”.

Police reportedly signalled for the driver to stop and then gave chase.

They arrested the driver after his car left the road at a roundabout at the junction of West Bawtry Road and Rotherway in Canklow.

Alex Winn (23), of Avondale Road, Rotherham, has been charged with dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, driving with no insurance, aggravated theft of motor vehicle, drink driving and failing to stop for police and is due in court this morning.
