Rotherham man appears before court charged with attempted murder

A ROTHERHAM man appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed in Sheffield city centre — just a few days before his alleged victim died from his injuries

Dereck Owusu (36), of Strathmore Grove, Wath, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on October 1 charged with the attempted murder of 26-year-old Reece Radford. Another man, Louis James (46) of Manor Lane, Sheffield, faces the same charge.

Mr Radford, who was stabbed in Arundel Gate on September 29 and was in a critical condition with life-threatening injuries for several days, died from his injuries last Tuesday.

A postmortem found he had sustained a single stab wound to the chest.

Owusu and James have been remanded in custody, police said.

Det Chief Insp Rebecca Hodgman said: “We are still keen to speak to anyone who may have information that could help the investigation.

“If you haven’t already come forward to speak to us, I would urge you to get in touch.

“You can call police on 101 quoting incident number 73 of September 29.”
