Police raid three cannabis farms in Eastwood in just five days

POLICE found cannabis in three houses in Eastwood in raids just a few days apart.

They said 122 cannabis plants had been seized and one man detained after the latest raid in Hatherley Road on Wednesday, which followed another warrant being executed in Selborne Street the previous Friday and 70 plants being found and 50 plants being confiscated from a property on Fitzwilliam Road on Thursday, December 9.

Rotherham Council has seized the Hatherley Road under the Housing Act and its front door has been sealed off.

Residents and business owners in Eastwood have recently complained about regular power cuts which have been linked to cannabis production.

The 28-year-old man arrested at Hatherley Road was released under investigation.

In relation to the Fitzwilliam Road raid, a 24-year-old man, Mateo Gjalpi, was arrested and has since been charged with produce a class B drug.

He has been remanded in custody.
