Pensioner cleared of causing man's death in pub fracas

A PENSIONER has been cleared of manslaughter after a confrontation in a pub left a man dead.

Peter Bacon (69), of Grayson Road, was found not guilty of unlawfully killing John Duty (67), who died after falling through a doorway at The Angel pub on Bridgegate.

A jury of seven women and five men delivered the verdict after five hours of deliberations at Sheffield Crown Court today (Friday).

Mr Duty suffered a fractured arm, neck and ribs which caused fatal bleeding into his chest, a postmortem revealed.

The fall occurred on November 4, 2015 and Mr Duty’s daughter found him dead at his home the following day.
