OAP sustains "significant injuries" following suspected hit and run

A PUZZLED pensioner told police could not remember how he suffered significant injuries after apparently being involved in a road traffic incident.

The 67-year-old was found around the Gray Avenue and Mason Avenue intersection in Swallownest at around 4.45pm on last Monday.

Road policing officers said the man had been spotted lying on the road before he was rushed to hospital with multiple broken bones and a serious head injury.

A spokesperson said his injuries were consistent with those experienced through being involved in a collision but he had said he could not remember how he came to be injured and no vehicles were at the scene.
