Firefighters tackling bin lorry blaze in Holmes

FIREFIGHTERS are tackling a blaze this morning (Wednesday) which has damaged two recycling vehicles.

Two fire engines from Rotherham station and one from Elm Lane station were called to the scene at Psalters Lane, Holmes, at 5.30am, a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said.

Two crews were still at the scene at 8.45am extinguishing the fire, which has affected two heavy goods vehicles, described by firefighters as recycling vehicles.

They are using hose reels to put out the blaze.
