Bogus caller warning after spate of incidents in Rotherham

RESIDENTS have been warned to be vigilant after a series of bogus caller incidents across the borough.

Fraudsters have claimed to be part of the Rothercare team or posed as housing wardens, sometimes presenting faked cards or documents.

Residents are urged to carefully check credentials of any visitors and, if unsure, contact the Rothercare team.

Anne Marie Lubanski, RMBC director of adult care, housing and health, said: “We issued warnings to residents as soon as we became aware of the bogus callers targeting Rothercare residents and are working with police to swiftly apprehend these individuals.

“I urge everyone to make sure visitors have valid identification and to push the button and contact the Rothercare team if you have any concerns. They will be able to check for you and provide any assistance you need.”

Concerns about bogus callers should be reported to police on 101. Assistance in reporting such matters can be given by the Rothercare team.
