Bluebell Wood event postponed...over lack of mud
The hot summer has led to dry ground and low water levels at Hesley Wood Scout Activity Centre, Chapeltown.
It has meant the ground will not be fit for the 3km and 5km event so the children’s hospice has put back the event from October to March 30 next year.

Hide AdYuri Matischen, spokesman for event organisers MLS, said: “We’d like to apologise to all the entrants, but we need to make sure that the event has the right conditions.
“The depletion of the lake and the very dry nature of the woods mean we wouldn’t have been able to create the muddy experience promised.
“The event will continue to support Bluebell Wood and all entries can either be transferred to the March event or refunded.”
Helen Mower, the children’s hospice’s head of fundraising, said: “Although we’ve all enjoyed summer, the conditions weren’t right for this event.

The early bird entry offer — £16.50 for 11 to 16-year-olds and £25 for 17 years plus — has been extended to December 31.
