Appeal for witnesses to knifepoint robbery in Thrybergh

DETECTIVES investigating a street robbery are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

A 51-year-old man was threatened while he was walking along Park Lane at around 11.17pm on Tuesday, January 29, a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said.

The man had overheard an argument between a pedestrian and the occupant of a white car, she added.

"The victim approached a man who had been in the argument to see if he was alright, but the man then threatened the 51-year-old with a knife before stealing his wallet and cigarettes and leaving the scene," said the spokeswoman.

"Officers attended and carried out a search of the area but no offender was located."

The offender, who had his face covered, is described as around 20-years-old and of heavy build.

He was wearing a grey or green hooded top and jeans.

The victim was uninjured but said to be extremely shaken up by the incident.

Det Insp Andy Knowles said: "We are reviewing CCTV and carrying out house-to-house enquiries and are keen to identify the occupants of the white car.

"We want to hear from people who may have been driving in the area at that time and have any dashcam footage that could help with our enquiries."
