WENTWORTH WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: At the August 13 meeting there were six visitors. The group has received a thank you letter from Susan and Jean Clayton regarding the donation to Hallamshire Hospital in memory of their mother Joan. Village day was a success despite poor attendance and bad weather. The event took £355. The speaker for the evening was Eddie Patnick who talked about how a fortune could be made out of junk. The competition was bric-a-brac: 1st Gill Clark, 2nd and 3rd Pam Cooper. The next meeting is on September 10 7.30pm. This will be a social evening to celebrate 100 years of WI. Meetings are usually on the second Thursday in each month. The charge is £3 for visitors. Meet in the village hall 7.30pm.
