TREETON PARISH COUNCIL: At a recent meeting of the council, in Matters Arising, Cllr Adair said that the Railway Children Day Care Nursery would be using Treeton Community for seven months while redevelopment work was being carried out on their premises on Front Street. In Correspondence Received, it was reported that Rother Valley West had sent a copy of the First TransPennine Express current performance challenge and, from First TransPennine Express, a copy of their Stakeholder Business Update had been received. Kevin Barron MP sent details of his surgeries. Roger Blades sent an email and photograph showing the problems that he was having with youngsters damaging his hedge, to bring to the council’s attention the current anti-social behaviour in the village. Under Borough Councillor’s Report, Cllr Hughes said that the new chief executive had been appointed by RMBC but he said that he was unhappy about the way that the appointments were being made as they are not being advertised. The councillors brought several issues to his attention. These included dog bins not being emptied, litter bins being removed, youths with cars with loud exhausts racing through the village at the weekends, youths with cars hanging around Mill Lane playing field and problems with yellow lines and parking outside the chemists. Under Community Centre Report, Cllr Adair thanked everyone for their support at the Christmas table top and craft fayre where over £300 was raised for the centre’s funds, especially Morrison’s who provided selection boxes for the village children. Cllr Goy asked about the rates on the community centre and Cllr Adair said that he thought that they would be entitled to 12 months’ grace, this will be taken up by borough councillor Hughes. Cllr Adair also asked about the painting of parking lines on Pit Lane and it was agreed that the parish council will do this. Under Chairman’s Review, the chairman reported that he had attended two parish liaison meetings where the number of empty houses in Treeton had been discussed. Also the asset transfer manager was to visit the village in the next two weeks to discuss the youth club building, the lease of which was due to expire. Under Planning Applications, an application to prune one lime tree protected by RMBC TPO No 6 2012 on Lymington Lane was received. The council had no objections providing the pruning was justified. Under Finance and General Purposes Committee, the clerk outlined the accounts to date and produced a copy of the cash book and up-to-date finance statements of the council’s affairs. The following annual reviews were carried out to apply from April 1. Allotment and garage plot rents should be unchanged. Burial fees shall be charged in line with RMBC plus 15 per cent admin charges. The caretaker’s salary shall be 26 hours at the National Living Wage. The clerk’s salary and expenses will be paid in line with those at national level. The youth club worker’s salary shall be increased in line with rates paid by RMBC. The village handyman and the footpath officer shall be paid for 16 hours at the National Living Wage, the latter being funded by RMBC. The Reading Rooms letting charges remain at £4 and £9 for groups from outside the village. The precept for next year was discussed and it was agreed that it should be on the same basis as last year with consideration for amounts required for playgrounds and Reading Room improvements.
