WHAT'S ON: Thurcroft

What's on in your local area

BIG LOCAL: Thurcroft Big Local is a resident led partnership. Providing advice services has been identified as a key element of creating regeneration in the village as part of the partnership’s ten year plan. It has done some pilot advice work in partnership with One Stop Advice Services in the Thurcroft Big Local shop. This ad hoc arrangement came to an end in March 2016 when the shop closed and the service went out the tender. The partnership delegated the tendering decision to a subcommittee consisting of four and support from Steve Ruffle of Rotherfed and Alister Shaw, Big Local rep. Four applications were received to deliver advice and advocacy services for Thurcroft residents for an initial period of six months from May 2016 to October 2016. Providers were expected to offer a minimum of a two hour advice and advocacy slot each week. At a subcommittee meeting residents unanimously agreed that they wished to continue working with OSAS. On April 20 2016 two representatives from RotherFed and Thurcroft Big Local interviewed Colin Salt from OSAS when questions were asked about dealing with complaints, safeguarding vulnerable customers, time keeping and recording interventions. OSAS have asked for payment for six months work, at a price more than budgeted for. The playground budget is underspent, so if agreed at the May Partnership meeting this additional sum can be vired from this budget. The partnership needs to endorse the decision of the subcommittee and approve the spend. On approval to accept the recommendation of the sub-group report, a contract/funding agreement/SLA will be put in place between Rotherfed and OSAS outlining the detail of the service to be delivered. This is a contract between RotherFed and OSAS to deliver advice and advocacy services for Thurcroft residents for an initial period of six months from June 1 to November 20. OSAS will provide a minimum of a two hour advice and advocacy slot each week at a set time in a Thurcroft venue where advisors will be available to speak and support residents. OSAS will publicise these sessions in Thurcroft and keep RotherFed informed of when and where these advice sessions will be. OSAS will deliver their action plan as detailed in the project tender, and will introduce of a local blog, dedicated email, two new volunteers, increased local profile and deliver a number of community awareness consultations. OSAS will provide RotherFed with data of numbers of Thurcroft people helped each week, their names and postcodes. Other elements of the action plan will need also to be completed to trigger second and final payments. OSAS will provide Thurcroft Big Local Partnership a written interim progress report for their August 2016 meeting and a final written report for their December 2016 meeting. OSAS will keep RotherFed informed of any serious issues relating to the above and inform RotherFed on how they have been dealt with.
