ST GERARD'S CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL: Children who jave just started at school: Miriam Archer-Siddall, Fintan O’Halloran, Alexa Hukin, Rosie Brailsford, Oscar Haywood, Logan Doyle and Olivia Day. School Council – school councillors represent the views and ideas of children in their classes. The elections have now finalised and the following children have been chosen to represent their classes: Class 1 Lexie Smith, Freya Kettleborough; Class 2 Isabella Lister, James Brailsford; Class 3 Evie Ellison, Liam Gurran; Class 4 Ruby Smith, William Heeley; Class 5: Jessica Peart, Brett Hickman. School mass – Fr Des is on holiday for two weeks so the first school mass of the year will take place in St Gerard’s Church on Monday 9.30am. For children who made their first holy communion last year, there will be a special mass of celebration at the Immaculate Conception on Thursday 7pm. St Gerard’s Support Fund – the school asks for a contribution from each family of 60p per week, which can also be paid as £8 per term or £24 per year. Contributions can be sent in with dinner money on Mondays. Friends of St Gerard’s – the group has organised another bag packing event on September 19-20 at Morrisons in Parkgate. The group is looking for children and adults to volunteer for two hours to raise money for the fundraising project to buy a school minibus. Birthdays – Miley Burns, Hayden Cooney. Golden Stars Club – each week during Achievement Assembly one child from each class will receive an invitation to the Golden Stars Club on Friday. The children are chosen for many different reasons, each showing they are trying to be good members of St Gerard’s family. The club takes place whilst other pupils are having their Golden Time. Golden Stars: Luke Jacobs, Natasha Browne, Isabella Lister, Eleanor Durow, Isabella Kirby. Diary Dates – today: Y6 visit Crucial Crew; tomorrow and Sunday: Friends of St Gerard’s bag packing event; September 23: Class 5 assembly 9.15am; September 24: Read Write Inc parent workshop; September 25: coffee morning; October 2: CAFOD family fast day; October 10: Friends of St Gerard’s family disco; October 16: Feast of St Gerard’s, mass celebrated with Bishop Ralph 9.15am.
