ROTHERHAM CITIZENS ADVICE BUREAU: Rotherham CAB has employed more debt advisers. The CAB won extra funding from the Money Advice Service which it is using to improve its debt provision. The CAB has two more debt workers and more support staff at the Rain Building next to the indoor market on Eastwood Lane, Rotherham. If people can’t get there they can see an adviser at one of 14 debt outreaches across the community. People can see a debt adviser on Saturday 10am-noon at a debt drop-in at the Rain Building. The advisers can see people face-to-face or give advice by telephone. Contact 03444 111 444 or visit the office in the Rain Building.

TALBOT LANE METHODIST CHURCH: The August 13 lunchtime service was led by Rev Jenny Park. The August 16 morning service was taken by Mrs Ruth Frowen. Recent coffee mornings in church raised £160 for church funds. On Monday a coffee morning will take place in the parlour with a homemade cakes stall 10am-noon.

ROTHERHAM RETIRED TEACHERS’ ASSOCIATION: Gwen Smith welcomed 33 members to the August meeting at Broom Church. She urged everyone to attend the Coffee, Cake and Communication morning at the home of Margaret Johnson on September 9 10am-noon to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Research. Doreen Baker spoke about forthcoming outings – September 5 Scarborough, September 23 Saltaire, January Crucible to see Showboat. The Christmas luncheon is on December 16. The raffle was drawn and Pat Jones, Marlene Nougher-Fuller and Doreen Baker won prizes. Speaker Pat McLaughlin talked about the Palace of Versailles. The next meeting at Broom Methodist Church is on September 16 10am-noon when Jonathon Laing will talk about Shiloh – A Place of Support.
