THE LINGS MONDAY CLUB: Meets in the community room at Sedge Close, The Lings, Bramley 1-3pm every Monday except bank holidays. The aim is to combat loneliness for senior citizens by providing a social environment. Contact secretary Pat Watson 01709 531171 or 07949 384292.

 

SURGERY TIMES: Cllr John Turner, who represents the Hellaby ward on Rotherham Council, holds a surgery at Bramley Community Hall, Cross Street, on the third Tuesday of each month 5.30-6.30pm.

COUNCILLOR SURGERY TIMES: The three ward councillors for the Wickersley ward – Sue Ellis, Emma Hoddinott and Chris Read – normally hold four local advice surgeries each month. These are private meetings between councillors and local residents. First Saturday of month 10-11am at Wickersley Library and Community Centre, second Friday of month 6-7pm at Bramley Parish Hall, third Tuesday of month 9.30-10.30am at Mark Grove Community Centre, fourth Monday of month 6-7pm at Sunnyside Community Centre. www.wickersleyward.org.uk 

 

PARISH COUNCIL: The Annual General Meeting was held on May 10 in the Bramley Village Hall. Cllr Malcolm Brown was elected as chairman and Cllr Dennis Hardwick was elected as vice chairman.

 

HOLIDAY CLUB: There will be a Holiday Club during the Spring Bank Holiday on Tuesday May 31 and Thursday June 2, from 12.30pm to 3.30pm, at the Bill Chafer Centre on Flash Lane, Bramley. The activities, which are free, are suitable for 10-17 year olds. They include sports activities, baking and arts/crafts.

 

ST FRANCIS CHURCH: Both the 9.15am Holy Communion and the 10.45 am All-age services were led by Rev Daran Ward. Alan Taylor gave the address at the 9.15 service. Helen Terry gave the address at the 10.45 service. Members of St Francis Church visited Silverwood Nursing home last Tuesday and after the singing of some old time songs introduced by James Moore a short service of Holy communion was led by Maureen Nicholson. Geoff Nicholson did the bible reading and Maureen and Tony Carter distributed the bread and wine. Miss B. Penlington played the organ. On Wednesday they went to Cambron Nursing Home to sing songs and choruses accompanied by Miss B Penlington on the keyboard.
