Weekender man joins Wombwell actors

HOW can a hard up church warden pay for the third wedding of his daughter’s dreams?

Hiring out the vicarage to a murder mystery troupe behind the vicar’s back seems simple enough — but the plan starts to unravel when the bishop pays a visit.

The amateur actors of Wombwell Thespians present this week a comedy farce in which Cluedo meets the Vicar of Dibley.

And they're joined by Advertiser and Weekender reporter Dave Doyle, playing the role of devious warden George.

Don’t Get Your Vicars in a Twist is a tale of deception and mistaken identity, with innuendo and slapstick thrown in for good measure.

Will George pull the wool over everyone’s eyes, making himself a stack of cash? Or will the church discover his dishonest scheme?

Visit Wombwell’s Playhouse Theatre between tonight and Saturday to find out.

The venue opens at 6.45pm for a 7.15pm start. Tickets are available on the door, priced at £7 each.

Unfortunately, the theatre is not wheelchair accessible.
