Venues help put South Yorkshire on tourism map

DEARNE Valley attractions including Consibrough Castle are playing a part in a new partnership to boost tourism in the region.

The South Yorkshire Local Visitor Economy Partnership is a collaboration between South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority and the region's four local authorities and is aimed at sharing priorities and targets to grow the local visitor economy.

The LVEP has been developed by Visit England and will be led by Sheffield City Council.

South Yorkshire Mayor Oliver Coppard said the partnership will give visitors from far and wide the chance to explore and experience South Yorkshire in all its glory.”

Mayor of Doncaster Ros Jones said: “We have a large number of incredible tourist attractions in Doncaster, including our Mansion House, Conisbrough Castle, Cusworth Hall, and the Yorkshire Wildlife Park which is the UK's No.1 walk-through wildlife adventure.”

Councillor Sir Steve Houghton CBE, Leader of Barnsley Council, added: “Barnsley is an award-winning place of possibilities and we’ve got so much to offer.”
