Summer fun comes to Rotherham

FUN summer activities return to Rotherham next week, with a human table football game, animal petting and a DJ workshop set to bring a variety of entertainment.

Eight days of free activities are planned during July and August as A Slice of Summer Fun makes a comeback.

Five days of family fun in the town centre begins with Sports Day next Wednesday (20), bringing an inflatable football pitch, target golf and a Cycle Hub to All Saints' Square.

On Saturday, July 30, the square will host party games, competitions, children’s entertainment and a disco.

Animal Magic on Wednesday, August 3, will feature animal-themed activities, including mask making, a petting farm and interactive nature workshops.

All these events run from 10.30am until 3.30pm.

On Saturday, August 6, the square is the venue for Rotherham Remixed from 1pm until 6pm, introducing international DJ Nick Hussey, Bootsy and the winner of the Young DJ Competition. 

This ticketed event is for young people aged 14 to 17 years.

The final event in the town centre will be Wednesday Wizardry and Magic on Wednesday August, 17, with a miniature steam railway, craft sessions, magic show and activities organised by literacy hub Grimm & Co. from from 10.30am until 3.30pm.

The last three days of A Slice of Summer Fun will be held in Clifton Park from Tuesday, Auust 23 to Thursday, August 25. 

Children’s entertainment will be on offer from 10.30am to 3.30pm each day by the Water Splash area and deckchairs will provide for that real seaside feel.
