Short closure for Rotherham Archives

ROTHERHAM Archives and Local Studies will close for a week so staff can re-organise the collections and transfer the newly catalogued York and Lancaster Regimental Archive to Clifton Park Museum.

It will close from Monday, January 27 and will reopen from Monday February 3.

Cabinet Member for culture and tourism, councillor Amy Rushforth, said: “Rotherham's Archives is a great local service which has helped people discover the past, trace family members, educate the next generation and keep the town's history safe and secure.

“This short closure will allow the dedicated and creative Archives & Local Studies staff to bring more of our past to the forefront of our attention and continue the important relocation of the York and Lancs Regimental Museum.

“I've no doubt they will be looking forward to welcoming hundreds of history buffs back to the searchroom once they reopen for another year of discovery and fascinating insights.”
