Rotherham scout Alexander heads to London for mission to help fund dream trip

A SCOUT with a grand expedition in his sights will take on a mission to England’s most iconic stadium tomorrow to help cover the cost of his trip.

Alexander Lockwood, from Wath, has been selected among the UK cohort selected for the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea in July, which is expected to be attended by 50,000 young people from around the world.

Tomorrow, the teenager and his dad will travel between 14 Football League grounds in London before finishing at Wembley.

Alexander was selected because he has demonstrated that he has a

range of positive skills and attributes that will enable him to be “a great ambassador for UK Scouting and role model for other young people”.

In preparation for a “roarsome” time in Korea, young people from the UK contingent have adopted a logo featuring a Siberian tiger, the national animal of Korea.

Since being selected in December 2021, Alexander has begun attending

training camps and team building events preparing them for living on the hot and humid site in SaeManGeum, Korea.

He also needs to fundraise the near-£4,000 fee to attend,

which he has been doing by having bake sales, tombolas, raffles and sponsored events.

Alexander (pictured) has a GoFundMe page, as well as and a Facebook page called AlexanderWSJ2022 so that supporters can follow his preparations and the trip itself.
