Roll up for Rotherham Show!

VINTAGE vehicle owners will be polishing up their cars and allotment holders watering their prize veg as Rotherham Show is just around the corner.

The early autumn spectacular is back again on September 7 and 8, with regular venue Clifton Park set to provide the backdrop for the annual two-day festival of stalls, fairground fun and entertainment.

The show, which is organised by the borough council’s events team, will include perennial favourites such as the Vintage Vehicle Rally, horticultural show and the Rotherham Diversity Festival.

The Main Arena will again bring a wealth of action to the showground, including the Jez Avery Stunt Show and the Company of Horsemen.

It will be music to the ears all weekend, with Saturday’s Folk Festival bringing together some of the finest talent on the international, national and local music scene, headlined by Full House, and Sunday to be a day of Jazz, headlined by The Zoltans.

For those who prefer the sound of the classic brass bands, Rotherham Town, Maltby Miners’ Welfare, Thurcroft Welfare and Dinnington Colliery will be performing at the bandstand from noon.

There is also all the fun of the fair to be had, as well as friendly competition at the Horticultural Show, which will be welcoming hundreds of green-fingered people as they enter their home-grown wonders, as well as their craft masterpieces, to compete for trophies and to show off the best the borough has to offer.

In the Rotherham Diversity Festival area, there will be something going on around every corner, including crafts, arts, workshops and plenty of live performances.

On Sunday, the famous Vintage Vehicle Rally, which this year will include over 100 cars as well as a wealth of two-wheeled wonders, will give visitors a close look at vehicles ranging from a 1926 Austin Mayfair to a 1990 Pontiac Firebird and for lovers of two-wheeled transport, a classic 1938 Excelsior Warrior.
