Punk band play gig at the Cutler’s Arms

PUNK band System of Hate play their last Rotherham gig of the summer this weekend before heading off to a major festival.

The Cutler’s Arms will play host on Sunday to the Barnsley-based group, while John Half-a-Day from the Doncaster based band, Das Abyss, will have a solo acoustic spot.

Next month, System of Hate will join the likes of Buzzcocks and The Damned on the bill at the Rebellion Festival in Blackpool Winter Gardens, which guitarist Pat Crawford described as “the biggest punk festival in the world”.

System of Hate, made up of Dave Sutcliffe on vocals, Shaun “Paddy” O'Neill on bass, Pat Crawford, Carl Gulliford on drums and Martin Roberts on keyboards were formed in 2011 and have played the Blackpool festival twice.

Pat added: “This is our cup final, playing on the same bill as The Boomtown Rats, The Damned, Buzzcocks, The Misfits, Sham 69 and Gang Of Four.

“That's just the headliners, there are hundreds more bands to chose from.

“We have made loads of friends over the past 3 years and can’t wait to play.”

The free gig starts at 3pm.
