Pub atmosphere brought to the stage

A NEW play about darts, bars and fistfights will bring a booze-fuelled atmosphere to a theatre stage later this month.

Petrification will be performed at Doncaster’s Cast Theatre on Thursday, June 16, and stars Still Open All Hours actor James Baxter alongside Neil Grainger and Jamie Quinn.

The audience will be thrust into the heart of one family’s search for truth as they join brothers Simon and Sean in a Gateshead pub.

Returning home from London, Simon is shocked to find Sean in a relationship with a man called Aidan, and Sean is irritated by Simon’s new cosmopolitan ways.

Writer Zoe Cooper said: “I have wanted to write something about the north/south divide for a while, as well as the ways class can split a family, especially when everyone is forced to spend too much time together.”

Tickets for Petrification, which starts at 7.45pm, cost £12.50 or £10.50 concessions, and are available via 01302 303959 or castindoncaster.com.
