My World: Rotherham's Got Talent gets my vote

Flicking through this week’s ‘Tiser and a story on page 33 really stood out.

Never mind Britain’s Got Talent, it’s all about Rotherham’s Got Talent!

That’s right, the hit talent show for people from this neck of the woods is back this year, with auditions being held on May 19 at Rawmarsh City Learning Centre.

Whether you are young or old, this is your chance to show off that hidden talent you’ve kept secret from your nearest and dearest for far too long and, personally, I think it’s fantastic that the town can come together like this and celebrate all of the talented people who reside here.

Over previous years singers, bands, magicians and comedians have been among the hopefuls looking to impress the panel, which culminates in a live final at the New York Stadium in June.

I think it is imperative that we as a town embrace the positives and – for that matter – the talents of the people who live here.

Not enough emphasis is put on what we as people can do, with a lot of light being shed on the things we can’t, so that’s why Rotherham’s Got Talent gets my vote!

So if you have something slightly quirky hidden up your sleeve, get along and show it off to the town.

You never know, Mr Cowell may spot it from his ivory tower!
