ADVERTISER reports from 137 years ago form part of a murder mystery trail at Clifton Park Museum.

Articles from 1880 have been used by Rotherham Archives staff to bring the story of who killed John Coe.

The trail — available until next Saturday — is free to enter and suitable for anyone to try out their detective skills.

A Rotherham borough police criminal register from the 1890s will also be on display in the archives searchroom.

The register is full of photos and visitors can have a go at creating their own Victorian mugshots in the dressing up area.

Cllr Taiba Yasseen, Rotherham Borough Council’s Cabinet member for culture, said: “This promises to be an exciting event suitable for all the family with an additional highlight for children, who can dress up in wonderful Victorian costumes.”
