MOUNTAIN bike racers will be back at Rother Valley Country Park this weekend with the launch of three exciting new endurance events - the first of their kind in Rotherham.

The event takes place on Sunday from 10.30am with three race options due to take place and more than 75 mountain bikers expected to be racing around the park.

It's a rare chance for mountain bike racers to use the courses which have been specially designed to give an interesting and exciting challenge.

There will be three races - a two-hour and a four-hour option for adults only, along with a novice course race that will be available to competitors over 12 years of age.

The Mayor of Rotherham, Councillor Dave Pickering, will start the event and said: "It's great that this type of event is back at Rother Valley Country Park after such a long break.

"There's been a great deal of talk about this event in the mountain biking world, so we're expecting a big turnout of competitors and spectators for what will be a fantastic day out."

After this first event, two others are planned on January 20 and February 10.
