Local heroes hailed
TWO community heroes were recognised with awards at a village’s annual Christmas lights switch-on—one of them while dressed as a snowman.
Wentworth and Dearne MP John Healey handed over certificates and gifts to Stanley Walton—was in seasonal costume—and Lorraine Naylor at Brampton-Bierlow’s festive gathering.
Stanley, of Becknoll Road, has volunteered for over 30 years in local schools and at Brampton Community Centre, where he runs the senior citizens’ group and helps transport members who otherwise would not otherwise be able to attend.

Hide AdLorraine, of Knollbeck Crescent, runs the lunch club at the community centre, and regularly helps at events and classes.
The switch-on event at the community centre was attended by 300 people, as well as the fire service and performers including fire eaters and stilt walkers.
