Historian to lead tour of "overlooked" Maltby heritage

A HISTORIAN aims to shed light on a village’s “overlooked” heritage this weekend with a free guided walk.

Filmmaker Joshua Daniels (pictured) will lead the history tour of Maltby this Saturday.

The two-hour walk, in which Mayor of Rotherham Cllr Tajamal Khan will take part, aims “to promote the local, often overlooked heritage of places in and around Rotherham”.

It will start at noon at St Bartholomew's Church in Maltby, where Josh will go through the history of the church, before going on to the war memorial, St Mary’s Church, the Model Village, Queen's Hotel, the Don Jon, the Dr Crossley Memorial, Five Rivers Punjabi Grill, formerly The White Swan, and then back to “St Bart’s.”

Joshua said: “I've been making history documentaries in and around Rotherham for nearly four years, using fresh new research for each one with the aim of bringing together the community.”
