Half-term fun at theatre

SOOTY and opera are an unusual combination set to entertain children and families during the February half term at Doncaster’s Cast Theatre.

Opera North will be presenting Happily Ever After on Saturday, February 18 which will explore the world of fairy tales, give people the chance to meet characters and experience live music inside a magical indoor tent. 

Tickets cost £8.50 for adults and £5.50 for children.

The show is suitable for four to seven-year-olds and performances will be held at 10.30am, 11.45am and 1.30pm.

Popular favourites Sooty, Sweep and Soo, accompanied by Richard Cadell, bring The Sooty Show to Cast on Wednesday, February 22 offering plenty of magic, music and audience participation.

The show is suitable for children from the age of three upwards and tickets cost £12.50 for adults and £10.50 for a child.

Performances are at 11am and 2.30pm.

During half-term week there will also be Cast’s Play in a Day workshops.

The workshops will be held on Tuesday, February 21 for eight to 11 year olds, and on Thursday, February 23 for 11to 14 and 14 to 16 year olds. The cost is £10.50 per young person including lunch.

A Wild West Fun Day wll be held on Tuesday, February 21 for five to eight years olds.

Cast’s head of participation Sarah Clough said: “Following the successful launch of Cast’s brand new Youth Theatre this January, we’re now really excited to welcome local children and their families to get involved at Cast this February half term. It’s going to be a week packed with fun shows and activities, with something for all ages to take part in and enjoy.”
