Grammar school reunion plan for Mexborough

THE search is on for former pupils of a Mexborough school in the hope they can get together for a big reunion later this year.

Past pupils from the 1967 intake at Mexborough Grammar School are invited to the event at the town’s Athletics Club on Saturday, October 29.

A number of get-togethers have been held over the years but organisers are hoping to track down many of the 180 ex-pupils who were in that year.

Graham Weatherill, who is behind the event, said that he wanted to get as many people to the event as possible.

He said: “The search so far is not doing badly. There are quite a lot of us who are in touch anyway but there are one or two that we have never been able to get in touch with.

“The last reunion was about 20 or 30 years ago.”

Mr Weatherill said that a few past pupils may be abroad or scattered across the UK.

So far, 38 people have been in touch.
