The event has already raised almost £30,000 for the Dinnington-based children’s hospice and is hoping for more volunteers to comer forward to help raise even more money in future.

Marilyn (67), of Brookfield Avenue, Swinton, said: “For a lot of people, like myself, gardening is a fantastic hobby. What better way of celebrating that than sharing your garden with others for a good cause.

“Lots of people serve teas or sell hand-made gifts along the trail, but there’s no need to do that, just having more gardens will help the event grow into something really special.

“The aim is always to raise as much as we can for the hospice, but we want to involve the whole community as well.

“Anyone who wants to be involved shouldn’t hesitate to get in touch.”

Last year’s Open Garden Trail saw 15 gardens open to the public.

This year’s event will take place on June 23 and 24.

Marilyn said: “I hoping that we can feature more gardens than ever before.”

Anyone interested in becoming involved in the Swinton Open Garden Trail should contact Marilyn on 01709 587932.
