Crowds flock to farm’s summer festival

PIGLET racing, live music and the intriguingly-billed “bale madness” drew the crowds to a farm’s first summer celebrations.

Families flocked to Lawns Farm at Morthen to have a flutter on the hurdling porkers, clamber around the walls of a maze made of hay bales and take in a band or two in the farm yard.

It was organised by the Ross farming family, who have owned the farm since the 1940s and opened a farm shop there in 2012, going on to win a gold medal for their pork pies at this year’s Bakewell Show.

The event also featured a rodeo ride, bouncy castle and paella and waffle stands.
