Chance to air views on Rotherham Hospital

DROP-in sessions being held next week will give people the chance to give their views to Rotherham Hospital’s governors.

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust will be holding its first Governors’ Surgery of the year on Wednesday in the main entrance of Rotherham Hospital and the reception area of Rotherham Community Health Centre on Greasborough Road.

Sessions will run from 9am and 11am and again from 3pm to 5pm.

Deputy Lead and Public Governor for Rother Valley West area of Rotherham, Dennis Wray will be hosting one of the sessions and said: “Generally, a visit to the trust is to undergo treatment or to accompany or visit a relative or friend.

“Just by being there you will have formed an opinion on a variety of subjects, waiting areas, ward cleanliness, staff attitudes.

“These opinions form a picture of how you view the trust and are important as they may result in changes to make our services more effective.

“However we can only help to make possible changes if your views are known to us.

“The Governors of the Trust represent you and regularly hold Governors’ Surgeries in order for you to both meet us, talk about the role of a Governor and to discuss any issues you may consider important to the effective running of the trust.”

The Governors' Surgery will be followed by an informal meeting open to members of the public or trust staff on Wednesday February 18 between 2pm and 3pm, in the Boardroom on Level D of Rotherham Hospital.

The meeting will offer the opportunity for anyone considering nominating themselves for the role of a governor to have informal chat with staff and governors.
