The show will go on in Rotherham for Michael Jackson tribute act

A MICHAEL Jackson tribute concert at the Rotherham Civic this weekend will go ahead as planned, council officials have confirmed.

Advertiser readers had questioned whether Saturday night’s Jackson Live show by tribute act CJ was appropriate in light of new child sexual abuse allegations against the late King of Pop, which were made in a TV documentary last weekend.

Andrew Haigh said on our Facebook page that staging the show was “not acceptable, and the Civic Theatre should cancel this”, while Nikki Hemingway said: “Is this a good choice with all the fresh allegations? You couldn’t make this up could you?”

Rotherham Borough Council’s assistant director for culture, tourism and sport, Polly Hamilton, said: “I can confirm Saturday’s performance will go ahead as planned.”
