One door closes and another will soon open: Grimm & Co plotting comeback in grand new home

IT’S the end of one chapter, but the start of another as a literary charity looks to close the doors of a pop-up shop ahead of moving to a major new refurbished HQ in the summer.

Grimm and Co’s ‘Apothecary to the Magical’ is currently based at The Old Town Hall, Rotherham but will close its doors on Saturday, February 25.

The shop will then be closed to the public until the charity’s ‘Emporium of Stories’ opens on Ship Hill, with an enchanced new shop, as well as a cafe and writing spaces.

Grimm and Co is moving to the refurbished premises, at Talbot Lane Methodist Church, to meet demand and expand its reach across South Yorkshire and beyond.

Online orders for both delivery and click and collect will continue throughout the closure, with collection from The Old Town Hall until the end of March, and after that from Ship Hill.

Founding director Deborah Bullivant said: “We have loved our time in the Old Town Hall, and we’ve met lots of new people that hadn’t come across Grimm and Co before.

“Being in such a central location has opened us up to new audiences, and particular highlights have included our activities as part of the Women’s Euros, and our Grimm Gathering — our annual story festival, which engaged hundreds of children and families.

“We can’t wait to welcome everyone to see us when we reopen as an Emporium of Stories at Ship Hill in the summer, celebrating stories from all over the world with our cafe, expanded bookshop and apothecary, and three wonderful new writing spaces to welcome children, families and schools. “This is such an exciting time for us, and you can be involved in this journey with us, too.
