New members needed as Stars in Our Eyes celebrates 20 years

Stars in Our Eyes Roadshow is already booked up for a string of shows this year but group manager Yvonne Rufus said more performers were needed to help them put on a stellar show.

Members of the current line-up are inviting supporters to join them for a celebration party at Denaby Main Institute — their rehearsal base — from 7.30pm next Saturday, February 18.

“It all started in 2003 with a show at Grove Social Club in Conisbrough for a local boy called Morgan Young who had (genetic disorder) Angelman Syndrome and needed needed money for equipment,” said Yvonne.

“We had a concert with a lot of current karaoke singers and put the show together with promoter Juddy Hamshaw.

“We managed to raise a couple of thousand pounds and since then we have gone from strength to strength.

“In 2015, we received the British Empire Medal from the Queen for all our charity work.”
