"Goddess" Erja Lyytinen lined up for South Yorkshire date

NOT many musicians can boast of being called a “goddess” but that’s the tag applied to singer and guitarist Erja Lyytinen, who comes to South Yorkshire next month.

Dubbed the “Finnish slide goddess” by The Blues magazine, the award-garlanded artist (pictured) headlines the Greystones in Sheffield at 8pm on March 21.

With more than 15 years in the business, Lyytinen has become a bona fide star in her homeland and a fixture on the international music scene.

Rooted in both traditional and modern blues, she blends styles like jazz, pop, soul and rock into a sound all her own.

Lyytinen recorded her international debut Pilgrimage after signing with Germany's prestigious Ruf Records label in 2005, before making a name for herself on the 2006 Blues Caravan tour.

Further albums Voracious Love and Forbidden Fruit followed, while 2014’s Elmore James tribute The Sky Is Crying was named Best European Blues Album.

Her latest studio album, Stolen Hearts, was recoverd with multi-platinum selling engineer and producer Chris Kimsey, known above all for his contributions to classic Rolling Stones albums like Sticky Fingers and Some Girls
