Work to do after Barrett kick rescues Titans

COACH Mark Jones says Rotherham Titans have plenty to work on ahead of this Sunday's Yorkshire derby.

His side played a massive get out of jail card as a last-gasp penalty from Tom Barrett - which bounced over from the crossbar - snatched a 24-23 win against new boys Ealing at Herringthorpe.

And after watching Rotherham make a catalogue of mistakes against the Londoners, Jones says there's plenty of work to do on the paddock before big-spending Yorkshire Carnegie come to Clifton Lane next Sunday.

He said: "They tested us for large parts of the game; however, without being disrespectful to them we helped them with their cause today.

“We were very naive in some passages of our play and I think we allowed an away team coming to a new ground the opportunity to grow into the game; we were frustrated with that.

“I have to say though, the boys deserve a huge amount of credit, they kept their composure right up to the end in the heat of the battle and they executed at the crucial time. Tom held his nerve marvellously to make that kick at the end."

Titans had tries from skipper Tom Homes and Aussie Tim Cree with Barrett adding 14 points.
