We're on the right track, says Scott

MANAGER Andy Scott says Rotherham United can take many positives from last night's Carling Cup exit to big-spending Leicester City at Don Valley Stadium.

The Millers caused Sven-Goran Eriksson's Championship outfit some big problems in the first half and took the lead through a Matt Mills own goal.

Two injury-enforced changes at half time didn't help the cause and the visitors, who had levelled through Paul Gallagher late in the half, pulled away to win 4-1 with a hat-trick from Jeff Schlupp, an Academy product making his full debut.

Scott said: "Leicester made eight changes from Saturday but they had quality in the side and on the bench so there are a lot of positives to take from the first hour for us. To say we had a very good 45 minutes against a top-class team shows we are going the right way about it.

"We had a couple of knocks and had to change things at half time time and it affected our fluency. There were sloppy mistakes and we were on the back foot and never got a foothold in the game after that.

"We will though sit down and watch the video and see where we can improve."

Scott handed a debut to centre-half Michael Raynes, the new signing from Scunthorpe United, while Andy Warrington deputised in goal for Conrad Logan, who was cup tied.

He and defender Troy Brown, who was away on Wales U21 duty, will return to the squad for Saturday's game at Plymouth Argyle.
