We were poor, admits Liddell

ROTHERHAM United caretaker boss Andy Liddell admits he was surprised by the poor performance against Morecambe on Saturday.

A late strike by Jimmy Spencer sentenced the Millers to a limp 1-0 defeat—their second loss at Don Valley Stadium inside a week.

Liddell said: "There was a lack of confidence and a lack of quality from both teams. It was a poor game of football.

"When you've as many not playing well as we had then you're not going to win a game of football.

"It wasn't good enough, the players know that. We were poor.

"I'm an honest guy and I must say I didn't see that coming."

Rotherham now have only one win from their last eight games and have slipped to tenth place in League Two.

Despite that, they are still only two points off the play-offs ahead of Saturday's trip to Cheltenham, who were trounced 8-1 by Crewe at the weekend.

"We've still got a chance," added Liddell.
