Titans win comes at a cost

TITANS made it three wins from four in the Championship - but Saturday’s 37-31 victory against Nottingham came at a cost.

Centre Jonny Hepworth could be out for three weeks and prop Rob O’Donnell faces a length lay-off after a hard-fought match which also saw Richard Welding taken off after a heavy knock.

Titans are considering taking action after both Hepworth and Welding were allegedly involved in clashes with Nottingham no.8 Sione Kalamafoni. They will review the video of the game this week and, if the allegations are proven, cite the player to the RFU.

It marred an excellent performance by Rotherham. They were convincingly on top before O’Donnell was taken to hospital with what was initially a suspected broken leg but was later diagnosed as a badly dislocated ankle.

After that, Rotherham had to reorganise and dig deep.

Said Bester: “I take my hat off to this young squad because they won a match in difficult circumstances.”
